What is R-value?

R-value refers to how well the insulating material resists the flow of heat. The R stands for its resistance to heat flow. High R-value is especially beneficial in winter, to keep the warm air inside your home and the cold air out. It also reduces heat flow in the opposite direction in the summer. The higher the R-value, the more energy-efficient it is.

What are the benefits of replacing my windows?

Aside from adding beauty to your home, replacing old windows can cut your utility costs significantly over time. That’s because energy-efficient replacement windows solve the problems that contribute to your high energy bills. They stop the drafts, keep out the heat of the sun, and allow you to control the temperature of your home more consistently.

Do you offer any tools to allow me to research your products?

Yes, you can explore our design tools that allow you to try different colors and styles of siding, roofing, and more!

Why should I choose James Hardie fiber cement siding for my Denver home?

There are many reasons to choose James Hardie fiber cement siding over vinyl, the first of which is appearance. James Hardie siding is over five times thicker than vinyl, allowing for deeper grooves and a more authentic wood-grain effect. The result is more elegant than vinyl (which is plastic), particularly on a historic home.

Then comes function. Vinyl melts easily in a fire (or even from the reflection of the sun off Low-E glass windows); James Hardie products are noncombustible. Vinyl may crack and warp from the elements; James Hardie products are more durable and resist warping, sagging and melting.

How can a homeowner recognize when a roof system has problems?

In many situations, roof system problems are discovered after leaking or other damage occurs. Once to twice-a-year inspections often can uncover issues and point out cracks, damaged shingles, and other visible signs of roof system problems.

What are my options if I decide to reroof?

You have two basic options: You can choose a complete replacement of the roof system or re-cover the existing roof system, involving only the installation of a new roof system. If you've already had one re-cover installed on your original roof system, check with a professional roofing contractor. In some cases, building code requirements allow no more than one roof system re-cover before a complete replacement is necessary.
